Hey guys, starting R on Friday, it can not come soon enough for me, my skin is just getting worse every day. Sick to death of waking up every day with a new batch of spots. I know things wont change right away but at least I will be doing something about it. Any way, for those that had a bad breakout after starting could you tell me how long it took to happen? I really hope that I don’t get any bad side effects until at least after Christmas and new year lol there are a few snap happy people in my family and Im not sure a paper bag will go down too well in the xmas pics.
TIA

Hi Caroline,
Welcome to the board and 5 to 6 months closer to getting clear skin. Can I just ask what dosage you are on? I know it varies with most people the initial breakout but from reading other people’s post over the last 3 months I would say probably after about two weeks. Apparantely R is getting all the crap up to the surface. I have to say though that I didn’t have a bad breakout but my acne is mild to moderate so not sure if this has anything to do with it and also I started on 20 mg. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful!
If you get a minute look at the Before and After photo’s on here. I had a look at Holly’s and it shows her diary entries and it was quite a way into the treatment before she saw improvement, sometime near the end. You really need to be patient on this treatment but just know that after 5 or 6 month you will be spot free!! Holly’s (and the others) transformation is amazing.
I wish you all the best Caroline and just remember that everyone responds differently, be it side effects or break outs. Please come on here regularly though, the support is brilliant.
Take Care x

Thanks Vanessa, im not sure what dosage I will get yet, dermatologist is doing my prescription on friday but having read loads online I guess it will be 20mg, going buy weight and height anyway if that’s what they do!! Ive looked at the pics on here, some amazing transformations. How far into the treatment are you? I can’t wait until spring time when i will have beautiful skin (i hope). Just got engaged on Saturday night so at least now i have something nice to focus on and when i get tired of side effects i will just think of how it could be on my wedding day if i stop the treatment. PMA all the way
Does anyone know how to post pics on here?
Thanks
Caroline

Hi,
It will be 3 months on the 23rd December (it’s flown by!!). I was on 20 for the first month, then 30 up to last week and now I am on 60mg, my end date is the end of Feb — yippee. Doh! I’m a bit silly for asking you what dosage you are on. Congrats on your engagement and what a fab goal to aim for. You will be walking on air going down the aisle with your clear skin. I’ve got a lot of confidence in Roaccutane as my brother went on it back in 1993 and it cleared up his acne (it was really bad) and it has never come back.
Good luck Caroline, it is easier to cope with the bad days, the break outs when you are on Roaccutane as at least you know that eventually the Roaccutane will beat them and that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Re photos, I hear you have to go through Facebook. If you need advice on products etc we can help.

Congratulations on the Engagement!! Wow that is something to look forward too
I started on 40mg and my skin was at its worst around week 5, which is also when I upped my dosage to 50mg so not sure if that had something to do with it. In between then it had been improving but was very dry / flakey.
Hope the start of your treatment goes well and whatever happens this Christmas, by the time the next one comes around hopefully your skin will be transformed x
