Hi guys.. just to keep you updated on my time on roaccutane..
I started last wednesday and the side effect were getting to me – dry eyes, headaches and backpains. However, all these have now gone! i cant even tell im on the drug. – my skin hasnt really cleared up or anything but i guess i have to be patient for this.. miracles take time..
If your thinking of starting roaccutane then go for it! There may be a lot of negative reviews and possible side effects but you cant really know if it will be the case for you unless you try it.. however, i did start on just 20mg.. which may be why. Finger crossed my course continues like this
Hi,
I started on 20mg and I think it’s a good idea to ease you in. I went up to 30mg and I’m now on 60mg with approx 8 weeks to go. I’ve found the side effects to be alot better than I thought they would be. Everybody is different. It doesn’t mean that a side effect you experience is what you are going to have for the whole treatment. Dry lips and dry skin are a given though.
Good luck with the rest of your treatment

Hi,
yes i agree with you there, it is definitely worth starting on 20mg to get your body use to the drug with minimum side effects!
I know that, when i move up to either 30mg or 40 mg at the end of the month im sure the side effect will creep their way back into my life..but fingers crossed there not too bad! .. thank you, good luck with the 8 more weeks you have left!

Hi there
(a small price to pay for clear skin I think) I have experienced back ache during my course but all side effects are reversed on completing the course I have been told. I do believe my derm had my best interests at heart (whether this is because my mum had to pay for my course ! I don’t know) , I’m saying that because I was first offered R via a referral from my GP to NHS dermatology dept when I was 12+, the female dermatologist was basically saying “take it or leave it” attitude, mainly because I am a needle phobic and at the time was reluctant to have my bloods done so we decided against taking R at that particular time because my Mum & I felt I was too young to take such a potent drug, however my acne did not improve with years of anti bio so at 14 I made the decision to go for it, we went private because I was told it was at least a 6 months waiting list, mentally I couldn’t wait that long hence the reason we went private. He (derm) was very understanding & seemed keen to gradually introduce the dosage and my mum is convinced this is why I have managed the treatment so well, I know it’s taken 6 months instead of the “normal” 16 weeks that seem to be mentioned. I had 2 months on 20mg, 2 months on 40mg and my final 2 months on 60mg, I sure introducing it gradually gives your body time to accept and adjust to it !!!!
I maybe wrong though.
Good luck with your course . . . I’ve got 1 week left !!!!! after 6 months of treatment, as Vanessa mentions the most common side effects that I think all posting on here experience are the dry cracked lips, dry sore nose and dry eyes
sorry for rambling on but everyone is different and will react differently to R but I’m sure you will get along just fine
Good luck & keep posting
