hey had my 2nd derm appointment today, she has kept me on 30mg for a second month, I kinda hoped she would up the dosage, I don’t know why I want it raised though, im sure it wont make R work any faster but in my head I thought it would work better if its a stronger dose . she says next month she will review it.
1 month down, x months to go

Hi Caroline,
I was only put up 5mgs at my 1st app (to 35mgs) but during month 2 I saw such a positive change in my skin – so I don’t think you have to be on a high dose for it to make a difference

Thanks bettyeva, that’s good to know. Really hope I see a difference soon. Hate having a face like a bowl of porridge, even make up doesn’t help when the spots are so raised, as im sure you know yourself.

Hi caroline,
I agree with Betty, the biggest change for me was towards the end of the second month. I wouldn’t be too worried about the dose not changing as my derm has said she probably will not increase mine anymore after 40mg. I think it has to do with severity of acne and side effects. Good luck! xx

Hi Caroline,
I was on 20mg for the first month then 30mg for the second month. When I saw the derm after 8 weeks she said because I was handling the side effects really well she would put me up to 60mg (for 3 months) for the remainder of my treatment. Next month you should have an increase I would have thought.
Take care, Vanessa

thanks for your replies ladies, this forum is a god send!
Vanessa that’s a fair jump from 30 t0 60, did your side effects get worse at that time?
waking up with yellow heads again the last 2 days
not happy but at least they are on my forehead and its so cold outside I can wear a hat to hide them lol I did pop 2 of them this morn, I know I shouldn’t but the itching was too much to bare, of course now they are twice the size and red and angry, if I left them alone they would go away much faster. Its hard though not to pick.
thanks again for the replies, looking forward to the end of month 2 and hoping there will be an improvement for me too x

HI Caroline,
Tell me about it! I nearly fell off my chair when she said she was upping it to 60mg. I got a red rash on my hand but this only lasted a few days. My lips have got even dryer but nothing vaseline and blistex can’t sort out. My eyes went alot dryer initially but been ok the last few days not needed any drops. All in all not too bad, I’d be lying if I said that I’m ready to come off them now but only got 7 weeks to go.
Sorry to hear about the yellow heads Caroline, must be so upsetting. I guess the only comfort is knowing at least you are doing something now to stop the buggers. It just takes time unfortunately – you will get there! My skin is clear now and has been for about a month – really, really pleased.
